The creative and spiritual journey of a (textile) recycler. . .

I have thought about starting a blog for a long time now. I just couldn’t seem to get started. I thought. . what would I say, what would I do and really . . . . . who would care.

Last year I had the great fortune to witness a ‘happening’. As a spouse at a reunion (I know, groan) I was both an observer and participant. This reunion was attended by some of the most creative and talented people on the face of the planet. Really, no exaggeration! But many were holding onto life long insecurities. They didn’t think they were talented enough and embarrassed to perform in front of each other for fear of . . who knows . . . finger pointing, whispers, laughter, ridicule of some sort for sure. Once it was revealed that many shared the same feelings, the healing began. And I was the lucky one. I got to witness it all and benefit as well.

So, the message is that we all think we are not good enough compared to someone else, but we are. Don’t let your fears and insecurities stop you. We can’t measure our own success by someone else’s talents.

This revelation and the kindness / support of strangers has propelled my creative journey to a place I had given up ever getting to. Tho I thought my creative juices were dried up forever, they have merely been reawakened. Many thanks to all involved in my process, including in-part . . Victoria B, Mrs. W., Charles Mc., Claudia H, Mary B, Cindy G, Sandy B, Traci B., Kat C, and my IAA family. So, thank you. I dedicate this blog to all of you!

List it Tuesday!

It's Tuesday! and you know what that means....Artsyville's 'List it Tuesday' time :)

This week's list is things overheard.... Well I am back in the hospital with 'pops' so my list is a bit strange. Nothing to do with recycling or textiles or art. After over 10 hours in the emergency room sitting, standing and doing not much else... here are just five things that I overheard:

- your toe has to come off

- he just pooped himself

- sir, you know you can't take codeine on an empty stomach

- he needs a condom cath large, no medium

- I'm 'bout ta leave out dis bitch

Yes the ER is a colorful place. You just have to smile and pray that everything comes out ok.

Aimee, if you're ever stuck again for things overheard, I highly recommend an ER or just the waiting room. It's rich with conversation. Thanks for letting me share.

Don't forget to come back and share for Flea Market Friday!

  4. I'm not sure who's better to eavesdrop on, the patients or the staff, as far as getting colorful, interesting, unexpected phrases...

  5. Not the toe!!!!! I can imagine the ER would be a great place to overhear some whoppers (some you might wish you'd never heard!) Thanks for sharing :)

  7. Amy, I think it's even.. patients vs staff. I used to work emergency & surgery in a few hospitals ... conversation amongst surgical staff is something else altogether!

  8. Thinking of the ER reminds me of when my son was little.

We went to the ER a couple of times with broken arms from falling off playground equipment at school.

At least you can laugh about it!

  9. Oh yes, Cheryl.. laughing for sure... funny how things work...the lady that made comment #5 turned out to be admitted to the same floor, just a few doors down. I went in her room to see how she was feeling. She introduced me to everyone as her 'white sista from another mother'...including her own daughter. We exchanged phone numbers :) I just love her!
